3-Name
We named him ‘Spencer’ after the actor John Spencer who’s a favourite character actor of ours who recently passed away. John Spencer was known for his ups and downs of life and struggled from a working class family but was greatly respected in the industry for his creative talent and his innate decency as a human being.
We chose ‘Taro’ because we wanted a Japanese middle name and it means ‘first born son’ – we were looking for the closest Japanese equivalent to ‘Charles’ which was the name of Ben’s grandpa and also sounded like ‘Tara’, his grandpa’s favourite home – an added bonus was that it’s part of one of my favourite childhood Japanese fairytales ‘Urashima Taro’ about a magical world under the sea.
